Pipette Tops

One of my customers sent me the following pictures. I wanted to wait until Tuesday to give Jamie Rae Pipette Tops and Matching Flower Hats a little "Toot of Approval". However, I simply can't wait any longer to share them.

Useless Fact Friday Contest

My husband has a serious love for t-shirts.

You would think there would be a limited amount of t-shirts that meet this criteria, but there are many stacked and sorted on the shelves of his closet.

Toot Toot Tuesday: Personalized Fabric Frames

One of my friends recently suffered a late term miscarriage, and I looked all around for something great to give her as a remembrance.

I thought of a Julian and Co. necklace, but she already had one. I ended up getting her a "In Memory Of" photo frame from Hallmark, but when I came across these personalized photo frames, I knew I needed to carry them.

I am inspired by all the work that goes into these frames. The process of embroidering the material/ribbon, securing batting to the frame, miter edges of both the fabric and the trim---the attention to detail and love put into these is what makes them really special.

We decided to take a day trip to Traverse City this past Thursday for something fun to do with the kids.

I packed all of our kid's toys, bathing suits, and enough clothing for two days of sun, rain, heat, or cold. Have I mentioned it has been in the 50's here?

Sigh.

Anyway, as I was unpacking in the hotel, I counted how many Wet Happened bags I used to pack all of my essentials.

8 bags.
Oh my word.

I seriously overpack. I mean, really, did I need to bring both kid toothpastes? Was it necessary to pack both Josh and my shampoo?

I admit, it is a problem. How about you? Overpack?

I felt like pulling a Brittany.

Spending four hours in the car with two children under 5 is not always that fun.

Okay, really, it is no fun at all. Whatever would possess us to think it would be fun to road trip for treasures with two small children is beyond me.

About two hours into the ride, my 1 year old spilled soda all over his lap. Not one to like being covered head to toe in sticky wetness, he started screaming and gesturing that he wanted out of the car seat. His hand accidentally touched my other son's arm, and the slapping match of all slapping matches ensued.

Kayden would hit Bryce; Bryce would start screaming. He would just start to calm down, and I would see his little arm reach over to hit Kayden back. More screaming. Back and forth this went until both of them were wailing. Mouths wide open, alligator tears pouring down their face, looking to me to comfort them.

At that very moment my husband took a slight wrong turn...ending up in another thirty minutes in the car.

I felt like pulling a Brittany and letting them sit in my lap.

We did score a pretty sweet pool slide for $50 though.

Now that they are both tucked in bed sleeping quietly....it was worth it.

New Product?

Kayden is an avid Cars lover. Specifically of the Lightening McQueen variety. He pretty much loves any type of die cast car- hot wheels, trucks, etc.

One of the things I have been wanting to make for a while was a portable car mat because he loves the large car rug in his playroom. This is what I came up with:

• it measures about 36" by 45 "
• folds up and then has handles for easy transportation
• the striped pocket shuts with Velcro so that a few cars can be stashed inside

Since I made this, I am surprised already all the places it has been- a wedding reception, the doctor's office, July 4th while we were waiting for fireworks.

As I am thinking about putting this into production, the questions I have are:

1) Is this something you would purchase?
2) How much do you think I should offer it for?
3) How important is the personalization?

Housekeeping

My two sons were playing together this weekend in the playroom. My oldest, Kayden, hit Bryce in the chest. I told him to go to timeout, which is the steps leading to upstairs. He hung his head and sat down without complaining.

Once the time was up, I gestured him to come back to play with us.

He started walking towards me and said, "That's fine, mom, but next time I go to time out, I am going to be really lippy."

Later in the evening, he saw a TV infomercial for the InStyler. "Mom, Mom! You need this. Come here quick! It curls your hair and then makes it straight!" he says.

I love working from home and being there for these moments.

Mega Heart Monday:The Meanest Mom

I have read this blog for a while; the mom that writes it has a gift for taking the everyday and making it hilarious--probably because I can relate. Life with kids is never boring.

Like this post- cracks me up every time I read it.

Why The Meanest Mom has Mega Heart: A lot of blogs I know charge for advertising. Those little banners on the side are all paid for by companies like myself. In essence, it is a pretty great way to advertise if the blog has a lot of readers.

The Meanest Mom could charge for her banner spots, but she doesn't. Instead, she allows the company to give to someone in need as opposed to paying her. For example, this month my family to give to is Lindsay, a little one year old that was born with only half a heart.

Her only rule is that we give with a generous heart.

That, in itself, is pretty darn cool.

Even better is that she does not advertise she is doing it. She does it all just out of the goodness of her heart.
